Pole class was good tonight, but we had six people and only one pole, so there was a little too much standing around. Caroline had us do some other exercises while we waited for our turn on the pole, so that helped some. Counting the bike ride there and back, I had a pretty solid 2.5 hour workout, and I've been swimming in endorphins ever since I got home over an hour ago. I feel great! On the ride home I was craving protein in a big way, so I picked up a Whataburger burger. It was DELICIOUS.

Two more days until I learn if the condo is mine.

Things are still going well. I've settled into the work again. It took a couple of weeks to get back into the swing of things, but I finally feel like I know what I am doing and am able to knock out files right and left. At a certain point I stopped stressing about the work related writing I'm doing, and am on automatic.

Sometime soon I'm supposed to have the first meeting about the project I'll be starting after Thanksgiving. We need to sort out some organizational stuff, and I'd like to get samples of the records that I'll be using for my "research". If it is anything like the work I did for the archeology division, I'll enjoy it a lot more.

Been on two friend dates with an old friend of mine. I awkwardly expressed interest in 'dating' and she seemed pleased. We are going really slowly, and I'm glad for it. The idea of dating makes me really nervous, and I'm not in a hurry. We are spending some time at a park tomorrow.

My brother is vacationing in NYC with his girlfriend, and apparently he is having dinner at this moment with her best friend and her bf's husband. I know this because he excitedly texted me that he was having dinner with one of three living people who knows how Game of Thrones will end. Apparently the bf's husband is GRR Martins editor or publisher, or something like that.

This cold weather is really taking it out of me. I'm burning a lot more calories cycling around town. Even eating a few extra meals, I am still losing weight. Not looking forward to the long bike ride to class Monday evening. I'm ready for summer.

Jenny asked her boss about giving me another contract, and was told that that was possible if I am available. We are going to talk about it tomorrow morning. The thing is, it is likely to only be a month or two, and I have a four month project lined up already. If it were a semi-permanent contract, I'd jump at it, but I can't cancel the Sabine job to take a month or two of desk work. I was very sad to explain this to Jenny, and she was sad to hear it. She is really stressed out about her job, and I am helping her dig out the deep hole she inherited when she took the job. We're going to see what her boss says tomorrow. If it is a short contract, I will offer to hold open my schedule after the Sabine job ends in August. I don't know if Jenny wants to wait that long, or even can wait that long. She might have to look for someone else. If they offer me 6+ months of work starting immediately, I'll cancel Sabine. If they offer me 4 months, I'll have to think about it. I don't want to burn any bridges with Prewitt if I can avoid it.

Also, Tom Spanbauer's new book "I Loved you More" was waiting for me on my doorstep when I got home. I still have 20 pages left in Nick Pizzolatto's "Galveston" but I don't think I can wait even that long to start it.

PS, I slept 7 hours last night.

First day of work is tomorrow, and it is going to be 26 degrees when I leave. I turned down an offer for a ride to work, I need my bicycle to get to Sky Candy right after work. I'm going to wear a lot of layers, it won't be too bad of a ride.

I got to sleep last night at 10:30, but I slept for 13 hours, so my schedule is still wonky. I'm downloading the newest episode of True Detective, and after I watch it I will try to go to sleep.

I've got everything ready to go for tomorrow, clothes laid out, lunch prepared (I'm making my own lunch instead of fast food, in order to cut down on sodium), and a few other things I might need.

Tomorrow is going to be a long, stressful day. I plan to leave my apartment by 7am, and I won't get home until the last class at Sky Candy ends at 10. I probably won't get back til around 11pm. I'm glad this schedule is only one day week.

OMG, one of my all time favorite musicians (JG Thirlwell) announced today that he has two new albums coming out in early October. Then I read some early reviews of Spanbauer's new book (coming out in April 14) and it sounds wonderful. It's a good day.

I also got confirmation that my last day of work is the 26th of September. AND I will have almost 4 weeks of vacation time that I can cash out.

I've been on a mini-diet for almost a month. I don't NEED to lose weight, but I put on some weight in my belly and it slows me down while doing aerials. I cut my daily calories total by about 300 and added about 15-20 miles a week of cycling. Ive lost one pound a week for three weeks and should be done in another three weeks.

I usually eat lunch alone on campus, but today when I left work Jenny walked by, so we went to the Dobie together and met up with a couple of the IT guys. It was kind of nice having a social lunch. Wouldn't want to do it every day, though.

The pains eased up some today, although it seems I have light tendonitis in my shoulder again. Even so, the workshops on Saturday should be doable. I'm excited about both of them. In the Dynamics of Strength workshop, we're going to learn some exercises that will lead to hanging by our heels, insteps, and neck. I don't expect to be able to do any of them any time soon, but working the exercises into my routine will eventually lead to one of more of the hangs. He's going to cover some lever and meathooks stuff that I've already been working on, but it will be nice to have instruction from another teacher.

I don't know what to expect from the other workshop, the one on aerial straps, but I will be happy to learn anything about straps.

Here are descriptions of the of workshops. I'm taking the Dynamics of Strength and Aerial Straps workshops, both taught by Jan Manke. They should be the third and fifth ones on the list: https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/ASP/home.asp?studioid=28231

Jenny's happy hour today was good. There were about 25 people there and I knew all of them except for maybe two people. I got some nice compliments on my work ethic from my THC supervisors, and offers of letters of recommendation, should I ever need them. I saw a bunch of friends I hadn't seen in months or years.

I hope to be asleep within 45 minutes.

Maybe zombies aren't so bad. Maybe when you are dead you exist in a state of constant, intense bliss. Maybe what zombies see when they see the living is what we see when we see zombies; miserable, shambling wrecks that appear to be in constant pain. Maybe zombies just want us to be as happy as they are.

I had lunch on campus today. Some 20 year old kid with a Justin Bieber hair-do told me I needed to cut my hair. I told him I couldn't wait to tell all my friends Justin Bieber gave me hair advice. He was not amused.

...every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood.

Genesis 8:21

Edit: another translation

"I will never again curse the ground because of the human race, even though everything they think or imagine is bent toward evil from childhood."

I am home in Austin.

This morning we worked for about two hours packing up all our equipment and then Matt drove 85 all the way to Austin.

We are done with Mt Pleasant, but there is a chance they will send a couple of us back for a few days to tie up loose ends.

I am exhausted, even though we had a fairly easy work session. I have been cleaning and unpacking and am about to eat some pizza and watch BSG. I am VERY happy that we got home a day early so I can rest up before leaving for NYC.

I lost a couple more pounds and am at the low end of my normal weight range (118,) so I am going to start eating more. I recently cut out about half the refined sugar I had been eating. I need to add more protein and complex carbs.

Tonight will be ice cream, BSG, Shy Hunters, and lots of sleep.

The cats are happy.

Our late friend hated blue skies,
Bible-quoting preachers,

He liked drunks in church,
Nudists playing volleyball,
Stray Dogs making friends,
Birds singing of fair weather as they crap.

phone post again.

The hotel internet is still down. the net has never been good here, but now it is just dead. It is frustrating because I finally got back into the habit of updating lj every day, and I owe several people long emails.

work is fine. I am spending the evenings reading and watching BSG. I made Matt watch Forbidden Zone with me last night.

this android keyboard sucks.

even myself, I am just here, isn't it?

we arrived in mt pleasant a couple hours ago. the hotel internet is down again, so I am very slowly posting from my phone. I am way behind on answering emails and various other things that require the net. they say they are switching providers, so we might have a reliable connection this week. bah.
